It was after I completed my 12th Standard a friend of mine introduced me to facebook . It was new for me and i found a lot of my school friends using it as a platform to share their day to day activities on it.
Profile Picture , Timeline ,Post ,Comment ,Like and Share were a bunch of new terminologies. During a initial days A lots of page in order to boost their pages will tag us in it , at the time point of time , I didn't know about the "Review and Tag" option meant for tagging oriented stuff.
Just like everyone else was sharing a lot of activities , used it as a platform to share my artistic stuff online and get reviews for it, and as days passed the Like obsession seemed to get the better off me.Initally using auto-Liker obtained a few likes for the post.
But later the auto -Liker didn't seem to make any sense .But,to my surprise my friends list grews drastically and somehow the engagement on my posts seemed to be constantly increasing,I was consistently posting about memes, viral posts and also actively engaged in other people post.By the end of 2015, I was organically gaining traction in my facebook posts.
It was a beautiful feeling .As I was completing my undergraduate degree and was stepping into my dream company , a company that I wished to be part of , I started to focus on other Social media networking sites too. That's when LinkedIn came in to play.I understood LinkedIn was a platform to connect with professionals and i am happy that I shifted to L:inkedIn because those initial trial period was the time when I tried out new stuff in LinkedIn,I also understood what to do in LinkedIn and how to do stuff in LinkedIn and also LinkedIn premium account along with the LinkedIn Learning was one of the best investments I have done so far for my self growth.
Also ,I was more active on facebook and we were building a good fb community..Now even though the traction was organic,the interest which was there in start was not there and then facebook introduced multiple options like facebook Live, Facebook Marketplace and so on.But then I changed my set of friends in network, I got myself removed from few people, I removed few people and then added few more.
Now I'm happy with my current Facebook friend's list although if it can be improved will definitely do it in future, The reason I'm happy with my current facebook friends list is that because not only do they brag about their achievements and other stuff,they share valuable content and also elevate other people through their posts.
We are constantly exposed to new stuff,some good and some bad, but the cool thing is that I see a lot of good posts, that are not focused on getting likes but to provide value at its highest level.I believe social media is a great place to be in , although we might not find 100% like minded induviduals ,Social network remains as a place where we can connect with like minded people.
Although a lot of value is provided via social networks, Social networks DeTox is also needed, we need to focus on our real life relationships, take off some time and create a wonderful garden, read a beautiful book , attend events that provide value.
Social networks have constantly evolved from facebook,Google plus , twitter,weibo, tumblr ,pinterest,Instagram,Snapchat,whatsapp,wechat and recently tiktok application ,each one has different user base and few apps are quite unique.Not only social networks can be used as a place for entertainment but if one masters the art of social media ,then he/she can make a living out of it.
As long as Internet is there social networks will prevail.
