Day 4 - Blogging Series - Just a Minute Competition

It was during my early stages of my transition from being a village kid to becoming a city kiddo. I was so curios and wanted to try out new stuff. And that's when an opportunity knocked during the primary school days at Marians.

I still remember the stage on which I stood, I know they said it was a competition and they called it as JAM. I thought it might be a Jam eating contest. And I was standing in line and to my surprise they said, it's not JAM eating. It's about Just a Minute competition.

The game organizers said that they will give a particular topic and I need to talk about it for a minute and no time will be given for preparation and it had to be in English. I still was a bit dizzy at that point of time.

But mustering a bit of courage and looking at others performing on stage, I felt I also can do it. And the topic for me was regarding sports. And regarding I said "Sports really helps kids to be so and so... Cricket is a wonderful sport. We use ball and bat... The terms were simple. Coz I did know only simple terms. The sentence was framed in such a way that it looked comical to them. And as the competition ended I felt a bit relieved and I was awarded 3rd prize.

That was one of the key initial moments during my childhood phase, learning the art of speaking and also winning by the art of speaking was  a complete different feeling. From then onwards I tried to read news Onstage. Participated in elocution competitions.

And this got built up over the years and after making the transition to St. John's I was compering for the Silver Jubilee Function in front of a huge audience. Just like how they a small step forward, and a giant leap for mankind.

That small transition from village to Town.
And me participating in that small events down the road helped me to be the Conversation specialist that I am today. And hopefully this blog will help to scale even more.

One thing I understood and realized in life is, we have to analyze what exactly do we want in our life. And once we identify it we have work towards that specific goal. When we are young, we jump into fearlessly irrespective of the outcome. As we tend to become a bit older, the insecurities step in and the worlds noise becomes louder and louder.

But if you decide to stay as a kid and listen to that inner voice, you and I, we can surely create an impact and succeed in our life. So, touching a little bit on Yesterday's topic. If you ask me whether Skill or will is important. Both are important but Will is more important in order to acquire and learn a skill 🌿

Thanks for reading this blog. Post your valuable comments and feedback.

Tell me the topics to write upon and I'll try my best to do it.

With that being said,
Let's meet tomorrow with another amazing awesomatic blog tomorrow.

Cheers.
Fredrick Xavier.

Don't ask me ,what is the meaning of Silakki Dumma - All I know at this point of time is that Sillaki Dumma is a local Tamil word which is used in various occasions.Meanwhile,The reason why I kept this as title was , I wanted to know what are the other commonly used slangs and phrases which we use in our day to day life.Post it in the comment section below. Today , I would like to discuss on the topic of Sales process. After taking few courses using  LinkedIn learning  platform and  Udemy  and from the people I have met in my life I understood a little about Sales process. The process of selling differs from Offline to the online version of selling stuff. Although I did know about the KISS technique(Keep It Simple Stupid) and also WIIFM(What's in it for them) strategy, if you observe simply on a day to day basis from the people you meet you will understand a lot about sales process. Like a samosa seller in a local train. He is consistent, has a voice mo...
