General Updates for the week:
  • Facebook Messenger introduced a feature named "Rooms" a couple of weeks back where 8-16 members can interact with one another in video format and recently it has enabled screen-sharing feature to both iOS and android platforms.

  • After the recent twitter hack of major profiles resulting in bitcoin-scam, twitter has re-introduced a new Application programming interface and is introducing new features. However,Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has cited data of the citizens of India needs to be protected and needs to kept within the country Itself.

  •  Apple Assembly partner Pegatron is moving in the direction of Foxxconn and Wiston Corp and would be setting up their assembly unit in Southern India. This move comes in after the Indian Government has offered finanicial incentives to manufacturers who set up their plants in India. But with automation kicking in everywhere, I would like to see the numbers of jobs created as a resultant of this setup.

  • Sony, amidst the PS5 launch date and speculations has launched Reon Pocket which goes inside the T-shirt and can reduce the temperature by 13 degrees and increase the temperature by 8 degrees. It uses a mechanism called Peltier effect and lasts for 2 more hours. Currently its sold in Japan along with a T-shirt.

  • Tencent has launched virtual shops termed Wechat Minishops and merchats can set the virtual shops within Wechat at free of cost. Wechat is the SuperApp with one billion plus users which allows you to book everything and pay for everything. The moments features within Wechat analyses what users are sharing about and targets them with relative ads which match the interests of the customers.

  • Google has assured an investment of 10 Billion USD into Indian ecosystem enabling digital transformation out of which 4 Billion USD would be spent on Jio and developing 5G low priced smartphones which will enable the next 500 millions users to transition online and on the  other end Google is also focusing on the safety of the people by detecting seismic activity by analysing the sea cables, therefore predicting earthquakes and cautioning governments and users when a situation arises.
  • Aadhar has taken customer service seriously and is providing solutions via their twitter account @Aadhaar_Care.

Now moving into the Gadget update for the week :

Did you know: 15 million trees and 473 gallons of waters are being used each year to produce toilet paper each year, well if you can keep yourself clean wherever you are and also be a part of climate change by saving the environment, then Sonny might be your solution.

It is an affordable bidet and does not require installation. All you gotta do is fill it with it water, charge it and use it where it matters. It's portable and right now port into the Indiegogo page to learn more about the device.

Now moving into the Startup  update for the week :

I have few words for this area but simply to sum up, this week its Jio Platforms. Yes, you might have heard the buzz from the internet where investors have flocked in and already acquired 25% of Jio Platforms with investors from Tech Giants like Facebook and Google and many more.

Reliance Industries Champion Mukesh Ambani focused on launch of Jio Fiber and has around 380 Million Jio Telecom subscribers and in the recent AGM, the team has announced few other updates.

From Jio Glass to Jio Meet and now JioMart is going to be available in Android platform. What a time for Indian consumers but the biggest question in the minds is, which local player can compete with Jio as with Monopoly, consumers might be paying the price in the long term.

But as of now, if Jio could focus on providing quality and affordable internet to all parts of India and not just a selective few cities where players are already established, Jio can truly change the landscape of how trade is done within the country and also enabling global exports by local farmers.

Social Media Management Tip:

If you are a social media manager, Kindly use facebook schedule post feature and post content organically instead of using a 3rd party application as it reaches to a wide range of audience.

Quote for the week: A Goal is a dream with a deadline says Napolean, now what's your goal and do you have a deadline?

On this day, July 19,1930: Richard E.Byrd,Laurence McKinley Gould and their polar expedition team return to the USA following the first exploration of the interior of Antarctica.
