General Updates for the week:
- The Chennai-Andaman and Nicobar Island(CANI) projects have finally obtained a clearance from the National Board for Wildlife. The CANI project covers an area of 2200 Kms and can transmit 100 Gigabits of data/second and also connects Port Blair, Hut Bay, Car Nicobar, Kamotra, Campbell Bay, Havelock & Long and Rangat Islands.
- It focuses on providing secure, reliable, affordable, robust connectivity to these islands. NEC Corporation is working on this project. The completion date of this project is not available at this point in time.
- The State Government of Maharastra has created a portal for job-seekers and employers to meet together online. Here is the URL: https://mahajobs.maharashtra.gov.in/. If you are seeking a job, please make sure you sign up yourself and if you are a job provider, Kindly register yourself. My small suggestion to job seekers would be to read this book : Landing your Dream Job which might help you to understand more about what type of work you want to do and narrow down the organizations which you want to be a part of, learn the art of networking and hopefully land in the dream job of yours.
- Foxconn to invest One Billion USD in India over a period of three years at Sriperumundur facility and at Andhra Pradesh, in order to manufacture its iPhones. It also has plans of approaching a similar sort of strategy for Xiaomi phones as well. Hopefully, Indian consumers can enjoy and purchase iPhones at a comparatively lower price point with this initiative.
- Meanwhile out of the 50 million Whatapp business 15 million are Indian users and recently WhatsApp has implemented a QR-code feature where the users can scan to view the catalogue and chat with the business owners/customer service representatives.
- WhatsApp Business users on iOS can go to settings -> Business Tools -> Short Link -> QR Code meanwhile Android users can do by tapping on More options -> Business Tools -> Short Link -> View QR code.
- And one more thing is that moving forward, WhatsApp users can communicate with users of Facebook without being present in that platform. I will keep you guys posted regarding this development in the upcoming days.
- Google has enabled retail outlets to advertise their products at free of cost to its end users in the US. And for users in India, if you would like to shop via Google, Kindly go to Google and search for "Google Shopping" you will come across amazing results and also the results that you are searching for.
- Instagram Reels is live right now in India and fellow Instagrammers are using this feature, meanwhile, with the recent temporary ban of Tik Tok and other applications, users are also downloading few other applications like MX TakaTak, Roposo, etc. Meanwhile, if you are on Instagram, Let's stay connected over there.
- Twitter's Jack Dorsey has said he would be donating 3 Million USD in order to Mayors for the Guaranteed income in order to test the Universal Basic Income program.
- Alibaba overtakes Facebook as the sixth most valuable company after shares in Hong Kong rose by 10 per cent.
Now moving into the Start-Up update for the week :
Wright Electric is focusing on building electric planes with the motto of "Lower cost, quieter flight and cleaner future"
The wright 1 can carry 186 passengers and it is planning to start its first operation by 2030. It is focusing on replaceable batteries and also focusing on improving the turn around time.
Kindly take your time to watch this video, if you are interested in reducing the carbon footprint. I am hopeful that the existing carriers also focus on electric and solar-powered planes for the betterment of all mankind.
Now moving into the Gadget update for the week :
Last week we saw how Monster X can power literally most the electrical types of equipment in your home, This week its from Shadecraft. They have launched a product "SunTable". It is water-resistant, in-built Bluetooth connected speakers and charge mobile devices wirelessly or via USB. It's currently available on Indiegogo. Learn more about the product by checking the website and make a decision to buy if it fits your needs.
With this Gadget, you can charge your devices at all times and listen to music as the Gadget is solar powered. It weighs less and can be used in-doors as well as out-doors. They have designed the device in such a way that the heat does not directly fall on the mobile device and yet get charged in the meantime.
Currently, it ships within the US and is available with an early-bird discount.
Social Media Management Tip:
You can automate repetitive social media actions by using IFTTT. It is available both on Android and on iOS platforms.
